Valentines Ball 2009
This year's theme was "Memoires of a Geisha" and Fisherpond was once again transformed. Guests walked through the Japanese fishing village where Chiyo was born as they entered, and proceeded into Kyoto's Gion district complete with the Cherry Blossom trees and beautiful lanterns and finally through Sayuri's (her Geisha name) boudoir and into the dining area.
This year's Ball was the most successful to date, thanks in part to Sir Cliff Richard who is one of the Ball's annual patrons, and who agreed to perform two songs for a large bid at the live auction. We were honoured to have Sir Cliff join us again this year and thank him for his gracious support. We were also happy to have little Brianna Skeete, one of the children whom the Trust supports. Brianna thanked the guests on behalf of all of the children in a way that only Bri can and she won the hearts of many that evening.
